Angela M. (Gentile) Kirwan

Angela M. Kirwan, 91, Pottsville, entered into eternal rest Wednesday afternoon at Schuylkill Medical Center-East, Pottsville.

Born November 28, 1923 in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Pane) Gentile.

Angela was a member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville; the Ladies’ Auxilliary of the former Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville; the former Pottsville Club and a current member of the Schuylkill County Country Club.  She attended Marywood College.

She was last employed as the manager of the former Fashion Bug which was located in the Schuylkill Mall Frackville.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Nicholas Pellegrino (1985); sisters Jean Ann Gentile and Alice Bakie; a brother Joseph Gentile; and her son-in-law Edmund S. Ryan (2013).

She is survived by her husband of 24 years William E. Kirwan, Sr., Pottsville; sons David Pellegrino husband of Lisa, Pensecola, FL and William E. Kirwan, Jr. husband of Beth, Orwigsburg; daughters Kathryn Smolskis wife of Richard, Cerritos, CA; Karen Ryan, Orwigsburg; and Michele McClain wife of Richard, Pittsburgh; granddaughters Nicole Rebstock, Linsey Steinkamp, Morgan Pellegrino, Melissa Kirwan and Amy Kirwan; grandson Brian Kirwan; great-grandchildren Ryan and Isabelle Rebstock.  She is also survived by a sister Lenore Samela, Annandale NJ; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday March 2 at 10:00AM in St. Patrick RC Church, Pottsville Msgr. Edward O’Connor, Off.  Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Monday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market Street Pottsville.   Entombment will take place at Our Lady of Calvary Mausoleum, Pottsville.  The family would prefer donations be made to St. Joseph Center for Special Learning 2075 West Norwegian Street Pottsville PA 17901.  Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.  Please visit www.schlitzerallenpugh.com to leave a condolence for the Kirwan family.
