Barbara A. Schnerring

Barbara A. Schnerring, 80, passed away Thursday evening at Bethany Village Retirement Community, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.

She was born February 22, 1935, in Pottsville, to the late Walter and Anne Schnerring.

Upon graduation from Pottsville High School in 1953, she became a legal secretary at a Pottsville law firm.

She moved to the Harrisburg area in the early 1960’s, taking a job with Gannett-Fleming Corddry Carpenter civil engineering firm, now Gannett-Fleming, Inc. Camp Hill.  She was employed by Gannett-Fleming for 35 years as an administrative secretary and assistant to five company presidents.

Barbara was a founding member of the Central Pennsylvania Executive Women’s International Organization and was active in many women’s business and professional groups.  She was a breast cancer survivor since 1989, a vegetarian and macrobiotic diet practitioner and active with the Harrisburg area’s Greenstreet Vegetarian Club.

She loved life and people.  When Barbara smiled rainbows appeared.

She is survived by a first cousin, Martena Schnerring, Pottsville; several other cousins; and a close friend John Currie.   

Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Charles Baber Cemetery, 1400 W Market St, Pottsville, PA 17901.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Village Retirement Community 5225 Wilson Lane Mechanicsburg PA 17055.  Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market Street, Pottsville, PA 17901 has been entrusted with arrangements.
