Earl B. Reese, Jr.

January 22, 1926 ~ July 20, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Earl B. Reese Jr., 91, of Pottsville passed away Thursday morning at his home surrounded by his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Gwendolyn and his daughters Kim and Terry.

Born January 22, 1926, in St. Clair, he was the son of the late Earl B. Reese Sr. and Tabitha Jones Reese.

Earl attended Pottsville High School and was a member of First Baptist Church, Pottsville.  He served in the United States Army during World War II.  He was stationed in France and Belgium and was in Germany when the war ended. 

He worked at the former Aetna Steel and retired after 16 years of service from the JC Erhlich Company. 

He and his wife, the former Gwendolyn J. Davis, enjoyed many years operating their ceramic business.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Edna Reese, June Wertz, Laire Russel, and Nancy Gogno; and brothers Marlin and William Reese.

He is survived by daughters Kimberly Reese, Pottsville and Terry wife of Mark Thomas, Hamburg.  He was affectionately known as “Pap” to his grandchildren Melanie wife of Patrick Mulherin, Erin Reese, Ryan Reese, Mark Thomas, Denise Thomas, Gregory and his wife Adele Thomas, and Kayla Thomas.  He is also survived by a sister Margaret Androsko and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday July 27 at the First Baptist Church 7th & Mahantongo Streets Pottsville.  Rev. Richard Hepler, Off.  Friends and relatives may call from 10:00 until 10:30 AM at the church.  Interment with military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.  The family would prefer donations to be made in Earl’s memory to The First Baptist Church 701 Mahantongo Street Pottsville PA 17901
