Irma R. Baker, 96, formerly of Pottsville entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning, November 24, 2015 at Arden Courts of Yardley.
Born in Pottsville March 20, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John and Bessie Irene (Huber) Rose.
Irma was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville; 1937 Graduate of Pottsville High School and organizer of the class reunions; Schuylkill Haven Senior Citizens. She loved to play Bridge and was the Treasurer of the Bridge Club while residing in Arizona.
She owned and operated the former Rose’s Newsstand and assisted her brother with the former Rose’s Cigar Store. She then worked for Dr. Eugene Bogage as an Optical Technician.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Baker; brothers Joseph Rose; James Rose; and John Rose; and a sister Betty Witmer.
She is survived by her son Robert J. Baker husband of Carolanne, Fallinston,PA; a daughter Geraldine Rose Burke wife of Robert, Sun Lakes, Arizona; grandsons Kevin Burke, Los Angeles; Scott Burke husband of Reyzen, Tucson, Arizona; Robert E. Burke, Jr., Altadena, CA; Christopher Baker husband of Sarah, Telford, PA; and Matthew Baker husband of Adriane, Langhorne, PA. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren; Gerado Burke, Kyle Burke, Madeline Burke, Ava Burke, Katherine Baker, Sophie Baker, Jude Baker and Caleb Baker; 13 nieces and nephews; and sister in laws, Rita Schrenk, Lawrenceville, NJ; and June Baker, Reading, PA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday December 3 at 11AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville with Monsignor William Handges Officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 10:15AM – 10:45AM at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market St. Pottsville. There will not be any calling hours Wednesday evening.
