James J. Moran

James J. Moran, 89, Pottsville, died entered into eternal rest Wednesday at Schuylkill Medical Center- South. 

Born July 11, 1926 at 35 Cadbury Street, Palo Alto, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Ivy B. (Martin) Moran.

He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville; the United Transportation Union; a Life member of the American Hose Co., Pottsville; and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  He was also an avid Philadelphia Phillies Fan.

He attended Pottsville High School.  He proudly served with the Second Infantry Division in the European Theater during World War II.

He retired as an engineer after 45 years of service from Conrail.  Prior to his employment with Conrail he worked on the Pennsylvania Railroads. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death brothers William M. Moran, Joseph B. Moran, Thomas P. Moran, and Francis R. Moran; and a sister Geraldine Moran Robinson.

He is survived by brothers Patrick D. Moran, Dennis M. Moran, John F. Moran; and sisters Mary E. Moran, Joan M. Wagner, Jeannette H. Furness, all of Pottsville.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11AM Wednesday at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market Street Pottsville.  Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home and again Wednesday morning from 10AM until time of services.  Interment will be held at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. 

The family would prefer contributions be made to St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church 319 Mahantongo Street Pottsville PA 17901 or the Pottsville Area EMS 320 North 9th Street Pottsville PA 17901.  Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market St. Pottsville has been entrusted with arrangements.
