Mary Elizabeth (Troilo) Acker

Mary Elizabeth (Troilo) Acker, 86, of Pottsville, passed away Monday at Schuylkill Center.

Born April 10, 1930 in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary LaScala Troilo.

Mary was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and was a long time member of the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. She was a member of the Lady’s Auxiliary and spent many years working the famous spaghetti suppers at St. Joseph’s and St. Patrick’s.  Liz, as many knew her, was always the first to donate her baking goodies for bake sales and events.  She made many friends happy with her homemade Christmas and Easter cookies.  She was an active member of her Pottsville Area High School Class of 1948 reunion committee and an avid football fan following Pottsville, Penn State, the Eagles and the Steelers.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Glendon Acker, brother Dominic Troilo, and two sisters Lois Gargano and Louise Alati.

She is survived by son Lawrence husband of Debra Acker, daughter Lou Ann wife of Kevin Flaherty, grandson Jeremy husband of Connie Acker, great-granddaughter Gianna Acker, and a sister Christine Rutecky.  She has numerous nieces and nephews and loved remembering all of their birthdays and at holiday time.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00AM Friday at St. Patrick RC Church, Pottsville.  Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 9AM to 11AM at the church, Msgr.
