Roy Curtis Ashman, Sr.

Roy Curtis Ashman, Sr., 82, of Pottsville passed away Sunday in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Erlene E. Lechleitner Ashman, February 6, 1960.

He was born March 11, 1934, in Schuylkill Haven, son of the late Harold and Ida (Seltzer) Ashman.

Roy worked for United Metal Receptacle for 42 years until retiring. He went to school at H&R Block and has been preparing taxes since 1970. He was a member of the American Legion Robert B. Woodbury Post #67, Pottsville and was an avid bowler, bowling a 300 game that lead him into the American Bowling Congress. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville.

He proudly survived his country, serving in the United States Army during the Korean War.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Ashman; two sisters, Patricia Houser and Sandra Turnbull.

In addition to his wife of 56 years he is survived by son, Curtis E. Ashman, and wife, Sherry, son, Roy C. Ashman, Jr., and wife, Lisa; two daughters, Nancy L. Ashman and Tracey L. Ashman, and her lifelong partner Angelo “Chick” Sedicino; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Johnathan, Joshua, Desiree, Gabriella, Ashley, and Kianna; four great grandchildren, Tyler, Brayden, Alyiah, and Brinley, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 21th at 11 AM at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville, with Rev. Harold Hand officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:00 until 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.
