Timothy J. Witman

Timothy J. Witman, 19, of Venice Florida, formerly of Pottsville, died Thursday at Sarasota Memorial Hospital as a result of injuries he sustained from an accident. 

Born October 14, 1998 in Pottsville, he was the son of Peter D. Witman, Venice FL and Amy Barton Witman, Pottsville.

He was a 2017 Graduate of Pottsville Area High School.  Referred to as a “Scholar of the World” by his parents, Tim was a bibliophile. He only loved to read hard bound books, mostly Harry Potter.  His love of books inspired him to begin writing.  When he was not reading he was gaming.

He was preceded in death by a sister Quinn Witman; paternal grandparents Ed and Betty Witman; and great grandfather Jerome Barton, Sr.

In addition to his parents, Tim is survived by his maternal grandparents Jerry and Judi Barton, Pottsville; step mother Stephanie Maguire, FL; brothers Peter D. Witman II, FL; River D. Witman, FL; maternal great grandmother Jean Barton, Pottsville; niece Abriella Witman, Cressona; nephew Lukah Witman, New Ringgold; uncles and aunts JD and Stephanie Barton, Schuylkill Haven; Jake Barton, OK; Glenn and Sara Strouse, NY; Joel and Michelle Witman, SC; and Joan and John Bowers, Long Island Beach, NJ.  He is also survived by cousins Todd Strouse, Summit Station; Capt. Heather Pelachick; Heidi Bowers, NJ; and Rachel McDill.  

A Celebration of Tim’s Life will be held 6PM Friday June 8th at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market Street Pottsville PA 17901.  Family and friends are invited to call from 4PM until time of service.  The family would prefer donations be made in honor Timothy to the Pottsville Free Public Library 215 West Market Street Pottsville PA 17901.
