Elizabeth "Betty" Kemmerling Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” J. Kemmerling, 73, Pine Grove, entered into eternal rest Wednesday morning at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born February 10, 1944, in Pottsville, she was the daughter of Gilda (Monti) Matz, Pottsville and the daughter of the late Michael Matz.

She was a 1962 graduate of Nativity BVM High School and a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.  She was also a member of the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.

Betty enjoyed trips to Disneyland with her husband, children and grandchildren.  She celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with her loving husband, Kurt on September 10, 2016.  She enjoyed attending family picnics, craft shows, and traveling to Atlantic City with her siblings.

Betty was constantly on the go.  She was always finding things to do, like decorating, refinishing, painting, or refurbishing.  She enjoyed needle pointing and crocheting.

Most of all, Betty was devoted to her family, always one step ahead of them, looking out for them and giving sound advice.

She is survived by the love of her life, Kurt, Pine Grove; sons Kurt, Jr., husband of Sandra, Pine Grove; Christopher, husband of Tanya, Pine Grove; grandsons Jared, Alexander, Jordan, Tyler, and Adam.  She is also survived by brothers, John Matz, Schuylkill Haven; Richard Matz, Pottsville; Michael Matz, Pottsville; Steven Matz, Pottsville; sisters, Mary Louise “Cookie” Steiner, Rockford, Ill.; Nancy Potts, Pine Grove; Patricia Pugh, Pottsville; Michaeleen Murray, Pottsville; Judith Doyle, Phoenix Park; many nieces and nephews; and a godson William Michael Pugh.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Tuesday January 30 at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.  Family and friends are respectively invited to call at the church from 9AM until 10 AM.  Private interment will be held at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
