James G. McMurtrie

James G. “Jimmy Mac” McMurtrie, 60, Pottsville, died Thursday evening at his residence surrounded by his family and friends. 

Born April 22, 1958 in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Thomas and Jule (Purcell) McMurtrie.

He was a member of St. Patrick RC Church, Pottsville and a 1979 Graduate of the Intermediate Unit 29.

Jimmy Mac enjoyed traveling, collecting sports cards, dining out, and attending local events.  He loved all sports however he loved his beloved Penn State Nittany Lions.  Sounds of Elvis could often be heard coming from his room.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his companion, Barbie.

Jimmy Mac is survived by brothers, Thomas H. McMurtrie husband of Sandy, Pottsville; Wiliam D. Mc Murtrie husband of Maria, Pottsville; sister, Judy Francis wife of Paul, Hudson, New Hampshire; and several nieces and nephews and their families.  He is also survived by his extended family at Habilitation and RedCo. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11AM Wednesday, August 22 at the Chapel located on the grounds of Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Hillside.  Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 10AM until the time of Mass.  Interment will in Calvary Cemetery.  Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market Street Pottsville has been entrusted with arrangements.  Please visit www.schlitzerallenpugh.com to leave a condolence for Jimmy’s family.
