Carl N. "Mickey" Stein, 93, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

Born in Pottsville, December 27, 1923, he was the son of the late Norman and Verna (Kline) Stein.

Carl proudly served his country, serving in the Navy for three years as a gunner in the Navy armed guard during World War II. He worked for PP&L as a lineman for 30 years.

He was a 1943 graduate of Pottsville High School. He was a member of United Presbyterian Church, Pottsville. He was also a life member of Disabled American Veterans, VFW Post 129, Pottsville; West End Hose Co. #7, Pottsville; Antique Automobile Club of America, and a member of the Navy Armed Guard.

He was a loving husband, loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, Ronald C. Stein.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth A. "Betty" (McDonald) Stein, Pottsville; son, Edward Stein, Pottsville; stepsons, Francis Gownley, Pottsville and Gerald Gownley, Pottsville; several grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville. Family and friends may call Monday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Internment with military honors will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Pottsville.
