Edward F. Misstishin, 87, of Pottsville, passed away Tuesday evening at Orwigsburg Center.

Born in Mount Laffee, March 26, 1930, he was the son of the late Michael and Loretta (Doolin) Misstishin.

He was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Edward was an avid Philadelphia sports fan; his favorite teams were the Phillies, Eagles, and 76ers. He was a life member of the American Hose Co., Pottsville. On July 11, 2011, Edward was inducted into the Pa Voter Hall of Fame for having achieved a 50 consecutive year voting record, receiving several certificates from the Commonwealth of Pa and U.S. House of Representatives.

Edward worked for A&P for 39 years and Kaytee Products for 25 years. He worked as a full time employee until his retirement at the age of 82.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will always be remembered as a great story teller.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Frances C. (Stapleton) Misstishin.

He is survived by his son, James E. Misstishin Sr. and his companion Susan A. Smith, Pottsville; grandchildren, James Jr. and his fiancee Suzzane Holley, Gerald, and Richard Misstishin, great granddaughter, Julie Misstishin; brother, John "Jack" Mistisshen husband of Janice, Brunswick, GA; niece, Catherine Heath; nephews, Michael, John, Peter, and Stephen Mistisshen; and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30am on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville with Monsignor William Glosser officiating. Family and friends may call Monday evening at the funeral home from 5 pm – 7pm and Tuesday morning 9:30 am until the time of the service. Internment with military honors will be held at 1:30 pm in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
