Francis J. "Barney" "Frink" Burns, Sr., 83, of Minersville entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning with his loving wife of nearly 59 years the former Eva Hrin by his side.

Born February 28, 1932 in the Irish Valley of Heckscherville, he was the son of the late Thomas and Helen (Tobin) Burns.

He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville; a member of the former Mary Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was active in the Holy Name Society.  He donated numerous hours volunteering his time and talent to local charities including Meals on Wheels and the Pottsville Soup Kitchen.  He was a graduate of the former Pottsville Catholic High School.

He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War serving with the 109th Artillery in the 82nd Airborne.  He was last employed at the former ARGO Mills, Schuylkill Haven as a machine operator.

In addition to his parents "Frink" was preceded in death by brothers Joseph, Thomas and Vincent; and sisters Betty Burns, Helen Hesse and Theresa Burns.

He survived by his wife Eva M. (Hrin), Minersville; sons Robert L., Pottsville; Francis J. Jr.; Pottsville; and Anthony, Pottsville; daughters Christine M. Burns and Paula J. Burns both of Minersville; two grandsons Robert L. Burns, Jr., Pottsville and Anthony Burns, Jr.; Pottsville; and a granddaughter Valerie Burns, Baltimore MD.   He is also survived by brothers John "Jack" Burns, Harrisburg and Robert Burns, Seltzer City; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.  Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Friday August 21, 2015 from 8:30AM to 10:30AM at the Chapel of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church Mahantongo Street Pottsville. There will not be any calling hours Thursday evening.  Interment will be held in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery Hillside.  Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market Street Pottsville has been entrusted with arrangements.  Please visit www.schlitzerallenpugh.com to leave a condolence for the Burns' family.
