Joan Elizabeth (Domday) Smith 80, of Pottsville, passed away Tuesday evening surrounded by her loving family at Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill- East.

Born in Tamaqua, June 19, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Dominic Domday and Mary (Milia) Murphy.

Joan was known in her neighbored as Nan to many, she was a person with a big and caring heart.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Richard H. Smith; son, Michael Smith, brothers, Anthony F. Domday, Alfonso Domday, Joseph Domday, and Thomas Murphy; and a sister, Dolores Salm.

Joan is survived by her sons, Richard and his wife Beth, Robert and his wife Maria, James and his wife Barbara; daughters, Joan and her husband John Trosterud, Debra Smith and her husband Matthew Sullivan; sixteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren; brothers, Louis Domday, Patrick Murphy, and James Murphy; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11a.m. in the St. Patrick's Church, 319 Mahontongo St., Pottsville. Family and friends may call at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville on Sunday evening from 5-7p.m. and Monday morning from 9:30a.m.-10:30a.m. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery Chapel, Pottsville.
