John P. "Jack" Leffler, 84, of Pottsville passed away at Luther Ridge at Seiders hill on June 27, 2016.
He was born April 3, 1932, in Pottsville, a son of the late Philip "Bump" and Rea (Beach) Leffler.
Jack was a proud graduate of Pottsville High School in 1950, and was employed as a repairman of typewriters and other business machines with Scheipe Co., Pottsville, and later at G.J. Bear Co., Pottsville. He enlisted in the Air Force just prior to the Korean War, and was selected for nuclear weapons training in the South Pacific as part of Operation Redwing, which qualified him as an Atomic Veteran.
Jack was a selfless man devoted to his family, especially his youngest son Jon, known as Jonnie.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, first baby John, and Jon; two brothers, James Leffler, Emmaus and Hayden "Haydie" Leffler, Downingtown.
Surviving is Carol Leffler, his wife of 60 years; daughter, April Leffler, Prospect Park; two sons, Peter and his wife Cathy Leffler, Allentown, and Gregory and his wife Ellen Leffler, Pottsville; two sisters, Sandy (Leffler) Bowman, Hershey, and Patricia (Leffler) McDuffie, Cocoa Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Chris and Emily Leffler, both of Allentown; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Thursday June 30 at 2:00 p.m. from Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Family and friends may call at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
