LaVerne E. (Blum) Brennan, 85, of Pottsville, passed away peacefully Wednesday at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg surrounded by her loving family.

Born February 25, 1929 in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John Blum II and Lauretta (Richardson) Blum.

She was the widow of Emmett F. Brennan and they celebrated 53 years of marriage before he passed away in June of 2005.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Winifred Gerber, and her brother, John Blum III.

LaVerne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville and enjoyed tending to her flowers in the backyard and watching for the hummingbirds, but most of all, this kind and selfless woman loved taking care of her family.

She believed her most important job in life was to raise her six sons to be good husbands to her beloved daughters-in-law and to be good fathers to her eleven grandchildren and great  grandson who brought so much joy to her life.

She is survived by her sons Daniel, Frackville; Ronald and his wife Pamela, Pottsville; Gregory and his wife Lisa, Pottsville; Jeffrey and his wife Christine, Barry Township; John and his wife Nora, Downingtown; Raymond and his wife Kristel, Saint Clair; grandchildren Brandy, Patrick, Erin, Emily, Sean, April, Laura, Alexandra, Amanda, Emmett and Aran; great grandson Luke; and a nephew Paul Marton.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday October 11 at 11AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville.  Rev. Harold Hand will be Officiating.   Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Saturday from 9AM until time of service at the church.   Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in LaVerne's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church, Third and Arch Streets Pottsville PA 17901.
