IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lydia
Figueroa Torres
August 1, 1937 – February 6, 2026
Lydia Figueroa Torres, age 88 of Schuylkill Haven, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Rosewood, Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where she had been a guest.
Lydia was born on August 1, 1937, in Cuomo, Puerto Rico, a daughter of the late Inquilino Figueroa and Tomasa Gonzales and was a lifelong believer of the Christian faith. She lived in Bronx, New York, until relocating to Schuylkill County in 2022 to live closer to her daughter. While in New York, she owned and operated a storefront in Spanish Harlem Markets, selling a variety of women clothing and notions. After closing her business, she decided to attend beauty school, a lifelong aspiration.
As a single mother Lydia dedicated herself to raising her five children, instilling in them strong moral values and demonstrating what unwavering strength looks like in the face of life’s difficulties. She was a loving and giving person. She had a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh. She loved plants, birds and to knit.
In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by a son, Nelson Rivera. She is survived locally by her daughter, Lillian Torres, of Schuylkill Haven; and by three sons, Felix Torres, Armando Rivera and Rene Rivera, also, by five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Her family is looking forward to seeing her again at the second coming of Jesus Christ when the dead in Christ will rise – 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.
Private arrangements are being provided by the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home.
