Michael J. Brennan, Sr., 65, Pottsville, died Wednesday, June 4 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest after fighting a long and courageous battle with MS.

Born December 7, 1948, in Pottsville, he was the son of Julia I. (Murphy) Brennan, Minersville and the late Edward M. Brennan.

Mike was a 1967 Graduate of Pottsville Area High School and a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.  Prior to his illness, he was active in the Knights of Columbus and the Pottsville Jaycees.  He coached Pottsville Boys' Basketball League and was an avid sports fan; he never missed any of his sons' sporting events and was proud of their accomplishments.

He was recently employed at The Schuylkill County Council for the Arts, Pottsville and was previously employed at the former All Saints School, Pottsville.

He also served in the US Army Reserve.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by the love of his life and wife of 46 years Judith A. (Sirko) Brennan, Pottsville; sons Michael J. Brennan, Jr. and his wife Melissa, Orwigsburg; and Jarrad, Baltimore MD; granddaughters Maggie Grace and Rhyan Elizabeth Brennan, Orwigsburg; sister Sharon and her husband Bob Piccioni, Pottsville; niece Marina Refi, Pottsville; and nephews Jeff and Tim Bartholemew, Harrisburg PA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday June 9 at 10 o'clock at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.   Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Sunday evening from 6 to 8 o'clock and again Monday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 at the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market Street Pottsville.  Interment will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hillside.
