Phyllis L. Austerberry, 88, of Pottsville, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Salem, VA on August 23, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Helen (Gallagher) Williams.  She was a graduate of Our Lady of Nazareth High School, Roanoke, VA.

Mrs. Austerberry was a member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville and it's seniors club.  She also was a member of the Senior Citizens of Pottsville–Scoop.  Prior to retiring, she was employed by Hills in the Cressona Mall for 22 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Austerberry, who passed away in 1972; a son, Robert Austerberry; and grandson, Justin Austerberry.

Surviving are her daughters, Theresa Pellish, wife of Charles, Pottsville and Diane Saare, wife of Mitch, York; sons, Joseph Austerberry, husband of Mary, Pottsville; William Austerberry, husband of Carol, Primrose and James Austerberry, husband of Michelle; Pottsville, daughter in law, Gloria Austerberry, St. Clair; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2016 in St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville.  Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery.   Friends may call Monday morning from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 West Market Street, Pottsville.
