Ronald William Downey, Jr., age 71 of Pottsville, Pennsylvania, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pottsville.

He was born on December 2, 1954, in Pottsville, PA; son of the late Ronald William Downey, Sr. and Janice (Boris) Downey.

He was a member of Freedom in Christ Church of Schuylkill County, West End Hose Co. #7, Schuylkill County Republican Committee, Former Chairman of Pottsville City Republican Committee and Legislative Aide for State Representative Jerry Knowles and State Representative Jamie Barton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gregory Downey.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Marie (McGinnis) Downey. He is also survived by a son, Michael Downey, his wife, Kimberly; five grandchildren: Connor Felty, Cooper Felty, Cole Felty, Lucas Downey, Callie Felty and 3 siblings; Janice Hosler, Tony Downey, his wife, Marie and John Downey, his wife, Erin and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday September 19th at Freedom in Christ Church, 1850 1st Ave, Pottsville, PA. Visitation will be 10am-12 pm with service to follow.
