Shirley Quirk, 80, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday at Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Schuylkill Haven.

Born in Pottsville, Dec. 13, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Otto and Dorothy Beckley Pfeffer.

Shirley was an LPN and worked at the former Good Samaritan Hospital and Greenview Nursing Home. She had several private duty cases in later years. Shirley was also the former owner of Shirley's Uniform Shop in downtown Pottsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Quirk; and her brother, Otto Pfeffer.

She is survived by her former husband, Thomas R. Quirk Sr.; son, Thomas R. Quirk Jr.; and daughter, Patrice Quirk.

Family and friends are invited to call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville. Services will be private. Interment will take place at Holy Family Cemetery, New Philadelphia, at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Salvation Army, 400 Sanderson St., Pottsville, PA 1790 in Shirley's name.
