Bauer
February 3, 1923 – January 24, 2015
William M. Bauer, 91, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday at Schuylkill Center.
Born in Pottsville, February 3, 1923, he was the son of the late Joseph Bauer and Mary Bauer.
He was a graduate of St. Clair High School. He proudly served in the US Army during World War II, battling in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe.
He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, Saint Clair.
Prior to retirement, William was employed by the Reading Railroad company for 43 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothea B. (McCool) Bauer, in 2008; a son, Paul Bauer; grandson Joseph Bauer, Jr.; Great Granddaughter, Angelina Chescavage; two brother, Joseph and Charles Bauer; and a sister, SSJ Leanore Bauer.
William is survived by his two sons, William Bauer and his wife Liz, Mt. Laurel, NJ; Joseph Bauer and his wife Brenda, St. Clair; two daughters, Hazel Chescavage and her husband Donald, Pottsville; Dolores Jordan and her husband Joseph, St. Clair; four grandchildren, DJ Chescavage and his wife Darla; Scott Bauer and his wife Regina; Lisa Ashman and her husband Roy; Tanya Svrcek and her husband Marty; and ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Edward Bauer; two sisters, Mary Muldowney and Dorothy Conway and her husband Joseph; several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 W. Market St., Pottsville, with Monsignor William Glosser officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Queen of the Universe Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations be made in William's name to St. Clare of Assisi Church, 250 East Hancock St., St. Clair, PA 179070 or The American Heart Association PO Box 15120 Chicago IL 60693.
