Curtier
April 1, 1921 – June 22, 2014
William J. Curtier, 93, of Pottsville died Sunday at York Terrace Golden Living Center, Pottsville where he had been a guest since February.
Born in Pottsville, April 1, 1921, he was the son of the late William and Beatrice (Daubert) Curtier.
William retired from Hollow Metal Specialties, Hazleton; prior to working for Hollow Metal Specialties he was employed by Aetna Steel. He proudly served his country serving in the Army during WWII.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pottsville; a life member and the oldest member of the Humane Fire Co., Pottsville; a member of the AMVETS, Pottsville; the American Legion, Minersville; and he was an avid bowler having traveled throughout the state and country to attend various bowling conventions.
William was preceded in death by the love of his life the former Jean M. (Hulet) Curtier, 1996; a daughter Marilyn J., 1946; a son Keith W. Curtier, 1999; and a brother Harold, 1999.
He is survived by his daughter Karen L. Mitchell and her husband Frank, Pottsville; a daughter in law, Ruth Curtier Sweeney, Washington Crossing; godson and nephew President Judge William E. Baldwin and his wife Patricia, Pottsville; sister Beatrice Kleman, New Port Richey, Fl.; brother in law, Jack Hulet and his wife Jean, MD; sister in law Janet Curtier, Pottsville; grandchildren Diana White and her husband Will, Biglerville PA and Kevin Curtier and his wife Amber, Warminster PA; step grandchildren Scott Mitchell and his wife Kim, Pottsville; and Denise Carl, Orwigsburg. He is also survived by great grandchildren Mackenzie and Katherine White; Mason, Reed, and Ashlyn Curtier; and David Mitchell; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 10 o'clock Thursday June 26 at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 6 th &West Market Streets Pottsville with the Rev. Bradley Schutt, Officiating. Family and friends are invited to call Thursday morning from 8 o'clock until time of service. Interment with military honors will be held at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven PA.
The family would prefer contributions be made to the Humane Fire Co. 200 Humane Ave Pottsville, PA 17901 or First United Methodist Church 330 W Market St, Pottsville, PA 17901 in memory of Bill.
