Elizabeth W. (Walcott) Raring

Elizabeth W. Raring, age 84, of Bethlehem entered into eternal rest on July 15th, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg.  She was surrounded lovingly by her adoring family at the time of her passing.

Born in 1936 in the small town of Branchdale, PA she was the daughter of the late Andrew M. and Elizabeth L. (Mucha) Walcott. Betty was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School.  She met her husband F. Robert Raring, in Pottsville and they married in 1962.  They moved to the Lehigh Valley in 1966, where they raised their three daughters.  Betty was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem parish and worked for twenty years in sales for the Better Business Bureau.  After the very sad and sudden loss of her dear husband Bob in 2000, Betty delighted in her daughters and their families.  She was a most loved and treasured Nannie to her three grandchildren, and enjoyed many trips to the Boston area as they grew up.  She had a wonderful, loving relationship with her brother Andy and her sister-in-law Bonnie. 

Betty was simply beautiful inside and out and her loving spirit will live on in all who were blessed to have known her. She enjoyed tending her beautiful flower gardens, and inside her warm and welcoming home, her annual Christmas tree was always a sight to behold.  She took pleasure in the company of many dear friends, particularly her Bethlehem “sisterhood”.  Betty also did gratifying volunteer work for Lehigh Valley Hospital’s No One Dies Alone program, where she gave comfort to those hospitalized at end-of-life.

Betty leaves behind her daughter Elissa and husband Christopher of Winchester, MA, her daughter Carolyn Raring and husband David McGee of Bethlehem, and daughter Susan Raring of Bethlehem, her three grandchildren Jack, Grace, and Kate of Winchester, MA, her brother Andrew M. Walcott of Pottsville and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her younger brother Jack in 1999. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 20th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Pottsville, PA. The Raring family welcomes family and friends to pay their respects from 10:30 AM until the time of the Mass.  Interment will at St. John’s Cemetery, Pottsville.  Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home 515 West Market St Pottsville has been entrusted with arrangements.  Please visit schlitzerallenpugh.com to leave a condolence for the Raring family.
