Felice Meiswinkle Obituary

Felice Marie Meiswinkle, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday January 27, 2021, in Millville, New Jersey.   She was born to Sidonie (Linnert) and Hubert Nowak on March 2, 1929 in Beuthan, Germany.  During World War II, she met and fell in love with Robert C. Meiswinkle, an American service man.  In 1948, Robert arranged, through the American Red Cross, for her to travel to the United States.  They were married and settled in his hometown of Pottsville, PA.  They were blessed with 7 children and later 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The Meiswinkle family relocated to Millville, NJ in 1964.  Felice had a quest for knowledge and upon starting her youngest in first grade, she decided to go back to school to become a teacher. She earned degrees from Glassboro State College (Rowan University), Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania.  She taught at St Joseph High School in Hammonton, Bridgeton High School in Bridgeton, and was a Department Head and teacher at Schalick High School in Pittsgrove Township, NJ.  After her retirement, she and Robert relocated to the Orlando, FL area where she lived for 24 years.  In 2018, two years after Robert’s death, she moved back to Millville NJ and lived with her son Mark and daughter in law, Christine, and their family.

Felice had a passion for the Arts and loved traveling, theater, classical music, and fine art. She directed and acted in several plays and shows.  Felice was a gifted pianist, had a lovely voice, and was a member of her church choir. She enjoyed painting, reading, crossword puzzles and socializing with family and friends.  She was a beautiful, intelligent, inspiring, and loving wife and mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt who will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children David, Susanne Dalton (John), Christa Adams, Robert, Mark (Christine), Karen Young, and Kevin, and their families, as well as her niece Sharon (George) and nephew Glenn (Julie) and their families.
