Florence "Flo" M. (Demko) Walaitis

Florence M. “Flo” (Demko) Walaitis, 90, of Pottsville, PA entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning at Schuylkill Medical Center-East. 

Born April 24, 1926, in Pottsville; the daughter of the late John and Julia Mynjak Demko.

Flo was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, St. Clair. As a member of the Guild of the Schuylkill County Symphony, she was an enthusiastic supporter of the Arts.  She ran her own upscale clothing business based out of her home and prior to that, was employed as Sales Manager for the former Spencer Shoe Corporation. Flo had amazing fashion sense, loved cooking and enjoyed gardening. She was happiest in her home and garden; surrounded by family, friends, and flowers. She generously shared her gifts with many close friends – the family is grateful for their on-going support.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Anna Sura, Helen Coogan, Mary Mall, Elizabeth Swedo; and brothers:  John, Leonard, Edward, Paul and George, and husband of 13 years, George Walaitis.

Florence is survived by her loving daughter, Wendy Eaby, Rehoboth Beach, DE; devoted brother and sister in law, Ted and Janie Demko, Middletown, PA; sister and brother in law Dolly and Dave Duffy, Tamaqua, and many caring nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call Tuesday 9/20 9:00AM to 10:00AM at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 West Market Street Pottsville, PA. Panachida will be 9:45AM at the Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, St. Clair, PA, Rev. Frank Twardzik, off. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.
