Sis Rountree

Sis Rountree, 73, of Pottsville died Saturday evening at Manor Care Health Services, Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville, November 2, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Eugene J. Sr. and Amy Augusta (Christ) Rountree.

She was a member of the Salvation Army, Pottsville.  She loved to read and loved to garden.

Sis worked hard throughout her 73 years.  Early on she was employed at the former Paris Produce and the former Tulin Produce both of Pottsville.  She worked at numerous restaurants as a short order cook and a heavy cook.  She was even a hoist operator at F&N Coal Company, Buck Run and a part time independent home improvement contractor.  She bartended at numerous bars and clubs in Pottsville, the last being the F.O.E. Post 134.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Richard Smith and Eugene Rountree, Jr.

She is survived by brothers David R. Smith, Schuylkill Haven; Ronald T. Rountree and his wife Karen, Cressona; and Robert J. Rountree and his wife Bonita, Allentown.  She is also survived by 23 nieces and nephews and a ton of great nieces and great nephews.

Sis wanted to give special thanks to her niece, Jean Marie Sidella, Rayne and Stacie Slackus, Joe, Robin and Jerry, her care givers for all the love and care they had provided to her.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 10AM at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 515 West Market Street, Pottsville. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Wednesday evening from 6-8PM and Thursday morning from 9AM until time of service at the funeral home.
